No Idea When You'll Have Your Menopause? Here Are the Signs You May Notice

We often hear women say that having their monthly period takes so much of their energy and makes them emotional. This is evident if you have sisters or your mom is going through the same phase. Notice that some of them may be sensitive and irritable when women are in their monthly period.

Understanding their emotional state during those times is very important because that is just a phase. The monthly period is usually ended when women enter the menopausal stage. According to Mayo Clinic, menopause is usually diagnosed after 12 months of no monthly periods. Healthline also reported that menopause usually begins between 45 and 55 years old but can develop earlier or later. 

Healthline also added that menopause has three stages, namely, pre-menopause, menopause, and post-menopause stage. They said that these three differs because pre-menopause can have a light or heavy menstrual flow, menopause has a lack of menstruation for one whole year. Then after that, post-menopause will occur.

Women can be very moody during the process of menopause.

According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health's (NIH) National Institute on Aging (NIA), women may experience different signs and symptoms of menopause because many parts of the body use estrogen. They also added in their report that less estrogen could result in various symptoms. According to Active Beat, to know what to watch out for and find out if you are in the menopausal stage, here are some of the symptoms you may watch out for.

Weight Gain

At some point, women are gaining weight, and most of them do not want the idea. If you are on a diet, but you notice that your weight is increasing through the scale's help, it may be a sign of weight gain. A Mayo Clinic reports that hormonal changes caused by menopause can influence weight gain around your belly, hips, and thighs. 

Change in period

NIA mentioned in their article that the periods of a woman during the menopausal stage might be regular. They added that it might be longer or shorter and bleed more or less than usual. They also further said that these are all normal changes but still let an expert verify that there is no underlying cause. 


Change in Facial Hair

Active Beat reported that women in the transition might notice a bit more hair on their body, including the face. So your trip in front of the mirror can increase because women do not want excessive hairs on their faces. The report furthered that a mixture of oatmeal paste, honey, and lemon juice may do the trick, or go for permanent laser hair removal. 

Insomnia

Active Beat furthers that difficulty in sleeping at night may also occur in women who are undergoing the menopausal stage. Sleep Foundation added that hot flushes during the night could awaken women, making sleep quality suffer. Mayo Clinic also noted that night sweats might also keep them sleepless at night. 

These are only some of the signs and symptoms women may notice when they undergo the menopausal stage. At this point, they may be irritable and moody. Understanding them and accompanying them in this phase will help them get through it better.
