Love Dairy? Here's What It Does To Your Body When You Consume Too Much

When you talk about dairy, you might think of breakfast - the milk you love drinking or using to complement your cereal. You may also think about cheese and how it makes a simple potato taste so stunning. Dairy is just one thing you never want to run out of your pantry and fridge. Because of its versatility, some dishes include enhancing the taste and play with our taste buds more. They can even accompany you in your diet journey when instead of eating so much, you will get yourself a cup of yogurt and toss some fruits with it to have a fiber-rich snack that is beneficial for both your gut and bones. Of course, we cannot forget the butter that makes that buttered shrimp taste amazing.

Having dairy - if you are not lactose intolerant - is normal because it is included in the food pyramid that gives us calcium, which our bones and muscles need. However, there are times that you consume so much dairy more than the amount our body requires. In a report by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the amount of dairy taken daily varies on the individual who will take it. They added that each person could vary between 2 to 3 cups, noting that those physically active may need more. In an interview with The List, registered dietitian Dee Sandquist said that determining the ideal amount of dairy for most people is done through trial and error. She emphasized that listening to the body and symptoms can greatly help measure your own ideal dairy measure.

Dairy is perfect for everyday consumption but takes note of these effects when your body absorbs too much dairy.

Stomach Pains

According to Insider, too much dairy can cause bloating and digestive pain. They also mentioned that being on good terms with dairy, you can still be sensitive to lactose. The list added that if you feel like you are holding your stomach - because of pain - from 30 minutes to 2 hours, then lactose intolerance may be the cause of your agony.

Acne

Have you noticed that your acne is popping out of your face occasionally? Then dairy may be the cause of that. Healthline mentioned that dairy cows are treated with hormones - artificial ones - backing up with research that suggests dairy may affect the hormonal balance that can stimulate the acnes. Insider added that skim milk might be likely to produce make acne worse.

Increased Inflammation

Okay, so let's say you do not consume so much milk, then how about cheese? In an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle,  Terry Fairclough, a nutritional therapist, said that the saturated fats in cheese hinder the engagement of necessary fatty acids in the body. He added that they are also inflammatory, so consuming too much may increase inflammation throughout the body.

Cholesterol Levels

According to The List, consuming too much dairy, cheese, particularly, can increase the body's cholesterol levels, which is not ideal for the heart and, of course, the body itself. Fairclough added in the interview that too much cheese might put an individual at risk of more serious conditions like stroke.

Eating is important and having favorites among the foods you eat is really not a problem. Remember that moderation of foods like dairy will make you healthier because of the nutrients it gives, but it can also impair your health in the long run if you eat too much of them.
