Water is good in dealing with period cramps but if you’re not that much of a ‘water drinker,’ because you don’t like the taste of it being plain, you can try some twists like infusing it with vegetables, fruits and spices.

1. Leafy Greens

Eating veggies, especially the green, leafy ones, will help you recover iron in your body. Since you are losing blood, meaning you are losing a lot of iron too, and these vegetables are great contributors as you recover that.

There may be times when you'd feel so exhausted and sluggish during period, and eating veggies such as spinach and broccoli will help you stay active.

2. Oats

Instead of coffee and cold water to drink, choose a cup of soothing chamomile tea and a glass of ginger-based water. According to studies, ginger water helps offset tummy discomforts too, which are linked to coffee beans.

4. Lots of Water

Water may not be essentially a food, although it is a vital element of your period diet. Essentially, this fluid flushes out the unwanted sodium that results in migraines and bloating.

5. Certain Fruits

Specifically, eat kiwi, bananas, and pineapple to alleviate period cramps. Bananas are rich in vitamin B6. They also contain a healthy dose of potassium, which helps relieve the bloating and symptoms of cramping. This was according to Lisa DeFazio, a registered dietitian.

Lastly, registered dietitian Rebecca Scritchfield said, a small piece of kiwi can help you beat the cramps. Filled with enzyme actinidin, kiwis can help in the digestion of protein more simply.
