Are you hungry yet you just ate a heavy meal not too long ago? Snacks may help you ease that drive for munching goodies into your mouth.

According to Cambridge, a snack is a small amount of food that is eaten between meals. This means the candies you eat, those chocolate bars you're hiding in your pockets, they are considered a snack.

However, snacks can be a nightmare for someone who is allergic to nuts.

Nuts such as almonds, peanuts, and Macadamias are used to compliment chocolates and other sweets we often eat.

Here are snacks, nut allergic people can eat to satisfy their cravings.

Popcorn

Popcorns are very easy to make low in calories and almost available to local supermarkets. According to the American Heart Association, this heartful snack is a good source of polyphenols, an antioxidant that is linked to better blood circulation and digestive health.

In an interview with American Heart Association, Maya Vadiveloo, an assistant professor in the department of nutrition and food sciences at the University of Rhode Island, said that air-popped would be a good way to prepare this snack because it gives control over the seasonings that will be added.

Fruits

Fruits are a great source of vitamins and minerals needed by the body. According to Healthy Eating, people incorporating fruits in their diet have a reduced risk of chronic illnesses.

Nutrients in these snacks vary. Furthermore, Healthy Eating emphasized that these nutrients are essential for the body's maintenance. Folic acid present in fruits helps the body in forming red blood cells. Healthy eating also added that eating fruits provides antioxidants that help in the repair of cells.

Pretzels

Although regarded by WebMD as a bad snack because according to them it has no nutritional value. Pretzels are also low in fat. Eating this snack should be in moderation.

Lentils

According to Healthline, lentils are an excellent source of B Vitamins, potassium, zinc, magnesium, and iron. They also added that lentils have a 25% protein which is a nutrient also needed by our muscles. Healthline emphasized its high count of polyphenols, health-promoting phytochemicals, and may also protect your heart. If you are overweight or obese, eating lentils can help in lowering your food intake. It also appears to keep the blood sugar levels steady. Women's health said that mixing cooked lentils with coconut (or removing the coconut if you're also allergic to it), salt, or honey can be very flavourful.

Jerky

Yes! This protein-rich meat can be a good snack of course should be taken in moderation.

According to Livestrong, a. ounce of jerky provides 9.4 milligrams of protein which is broke down by our intestines as amino acids which the body uses to build tissues and enzymes which is involved in the function of all the systems in the body. It also has Immune boosting Zinc which supports the immune system and the process of cell division.

Healthline on the other hand warns people on eating too much jerky because it has a high amount of sodium and may harm several aspects of your health.

Remember that snacking is eating a small amount of food in between meals. Eating too much of these snacks may not trigger your allergies to nuts but an excessive amount of them can trigger something more serious.
