Justin Bieber's Baptist Carl Lentz Seeks 'Depression' Treatment

Former Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz is now seeking to enter a treatment program for his mental health problems, according to reports. He was the pop star singer Justin Bieber's baptist upon entering Christianism and presided over his wedding with Hailey Baldwin.

Carl Lentz, a 42-year-old former lead pastor of Christian church Hillsong, is one of the most controversial religious person in the country. This was after Lentz was found having an affair outside of his marriage with wife Laura Lentz. 

Now, a source told People magazine that he has entered a treatment program for his mental health issues. Daily Mail UK reported that the former pastor is under "treatment at an outpatient facility that specializes in depression, anxiety and pastoral burnout."

As explained by Hillsong founder Brian Houston, Lentz was experiencing an 'ongoing discussions in relation to leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures.'  

The pastor also went controversial upon his statements against homosexuality and abortion in the past.

Lentz was not just a lead pastor in the well-known Christian church. He was also known due to his connection with popular personalities in the Hollywood, such as Justin Bieber. 

In fact, in Bieber's wedding with Hailey Baldwin, Lentz was the one presided over the event. 

However, after the issues circulated online, Bieber and Hailey decided to unfollow him on social media. 

Lentz' depression status

Though the issues happened in November, Lentz and his family-- along with his wife Laura-- is still with him. In the given statement, the source said that the affair issue might have triggered the depression of Lentz over the past month. 

"He wants to be better for his family and is dedicated to doing the work," the insider continued. "His family is supporting him and hopes their privacy will be respected on this journey."

What triggers depression?

According to American Psychiatric Association, depression is one of the most common yet serious medical illness that negatively affects how a person feels, the way they think and how they act.

"Depression affects an estimated one in 15 adults (6.7%) in any given year. And one in six people (16.6%) will experience depression at some time in their life. Depression can occur at any time, but on average, first appears during the late teens to mid-20s," says by the agency. 

Though it's a mental problem, it is actually treatable with proper medication and treatment procedure.
