Technology from Tanker and Doctolib Brings Doctor-Patient Confidentiality to New Level

With everyone socially distancing due to COVID-19, online consultations and virtual meetings have made their way into the scene.

Having 4.6 million teleconsultations since the start of the pandemic, this type of technology, is indeed a timely necessity. This has, in turn, increased the concern for data security as several personal and sensitive information are part of the requirements for teleconsultation--as it is in actual in-person consultations.

For the last two and a half years, Europe's leading eHealth company, Doctolib, has been working with a leading tech and cloud protection company, Tanker, to come up with new technology that will take its already state-of-the-art data security to another level.

End-To-End Encryption: a 'New Standard' in the Medical Field

The partnership has resulted in the integration of end-to-end encryption for the users of Doctolib's products. In the process, Doctolib and Tanker have made an effort to build the high-security teleconsultation platform without disturbing the smooth experience that users are accustomed to. The said technology makes the platform the most secure eHealth solution on the market.

Both companies believe that this end-to-end encryption could be the new standard for user data security. It could be applicable when dealing with medical data, as well as when processing other sensitive user data.

Doctolib CEO Stanislas Niox-Chateau has emphasized how protecting the client's data is a priority in the medical field. "At Doctolib, we believe in a human and ethical innovation in healthcare. We work hard every day to make this vision real," he said. "The protection of our user's personal data is our first duty. Today's decision to generalize end-to-end encryption on Doctolib is the best example of this. Doctolib intends this radical method to become a standard in Europe."

Enrollment in Doctolib will begin this summer to reach 40 million patients and 125,000 healthcare professionals.
