Sixdog Investments, LLC and Anhing Corporation are both in the midst of conducting nationwide recalls of products suspected to be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

As of last Thursday, Sixdog Investments, LLC is voluntarily recalling some cases of dozen and half dozen packaged eggs after routine testing revealed that eggs from certain barns had trace evidence of Salmonella contamination.

The products, distributed in Colorado, may have additionally been transported to the states of to Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico, and Utah.

"The products in question will have a packing date of 93, 94, 97, or 98; an expiration date of '051814', '051914', '052214', or '052314'; they will also include a location code of 1 or 3," the FDA reports.

The FDA has also reported that as of last Friday, Anhing Corporation of Los Angeles, California has launched a nationwide recall of chili powder.

Much like with the Sixdog incident, a routine sampling of eight ounce plastic tubs of Caravelle Chili Powder -- "hot" variety -- was identified to potentially be contaminated with the Salmonella bacteria.

According to an FDA public health warning, the chili powder in question can be identified by lot code 560916. As a precaution, Anhing is also recalling products with the lot code 5705115 even though those products have not been associated with the bacteria.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, infections of the Salmonella bacteria cause an estimated 1.2 million food-related illnesses in the U.S. alone. Of those cases, about 23,000 result in hospitalization, and 450 result in death. While Samonellosis -- the illness caused by the infection -- is not normally fatal, it causes high fever and severe diarrhea and vomiting. These symptoms can lead to dehydration, which is particularly fatal to young children and the elderly.

The FDA has not reported any illnesses related to either of these products.

The FDA released a public health warning about Sixdog organic eggs on May 1.

The FDA released a public health warning about Caravelle Chili Powder on May 2.
