When it comes to sex, short men get more of it than their taller peers, finds a study.

Women may prefer tall, handsome and dusky looking men to get some action in the bed. But, a new research found that men who are below 5 feet nine inches have sex more often than those who are taller. The study published in the Discover Magazine observed sex life of 531 men aged between 20 and 54 and also recorded other variables like weight, waist measurements and height.

They noted the average weekly coital frequency was more than 3.5 times for participants whose height was 5 feet 9 inches or below. The weekly sexual activity was less in men with too much fat around the waist compared to those with normal and proportionate physique. The study also holds men's overall health and wellbeing has a huge influence on their sex life.

"When comparing men's sexual activity levels based on characteristics such as age, height, weight and health, the younger, fitter men tended to get more play. Coital frequency was higher among men with a height of less than 5 ft 9 in. Obesity and metabolic diseases can cause all types of sexual function to deteriorate in older age, whereas their effects may not yet be prominent at younger ages below 45 years," write the authors in the study, reports the IANS Live.

Findings of a previous clinical trial by the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine discovered being short can be more of an advantage for men than a stumbling block for seeking romantic affairs. Men who stand 5 feet 2 inches or lesser carry a longevity related gene 'FOXO3' and have low blood insulin levels. Therefore, they tend to live longer and have low risk of dying from diseases like cancer.

The authors recommend men to adopt healthy living practises like getting regular exercises, reducing intake of alcohol, tobacco and junk food. This not only helps ward off diseases and illnesses but also improves sexual and reproductive health in men.
